Looking at my old posts
Is personally embarrassing.

I date occasionally
Hey there! Thought that I’d never post again, eh? Well, so did I!
In between working at a summer camp over the summer and starting my first semester of university, I haven’t had much time to cook. Well, at least I haven’t had time to photograph them, or to make anything that anyone would really want to read a blog post about.
But I am home for the holidays, and my dad asked me...

Cupcakes
My friend and I decided to get together and whip up some cupcakes for his sister’s baby shower. Our goal was 75 cupcakes: 25 vanilla, 25 chocolate and 25 lemon.
Now this photo is pretty blurry, but I’d just like to point out that almost all cupcake recipes make 24 cupcakes and we had to throw in a little one in a separate pan, which didn’t cook as evenly and annoyed the hell...

Raspberry cream cheese quinoa muffins
Finally! Yes, after the photo fiasco of a couple days ago, I actually made these muffins a second time just to get the photos. The things I do for this blog! Also my family certainly didn’t mind me making another batch.
The kicker about these muffins is that they have quinoa in them, which is a grain that has more protein than rice or wheat. That means that not only are these muffins...

This is not a post
I made the most delicious raspberry-cream cheese-quinoa muffins.
But my camera messed up while uploading the pictures to the computer.
So there is no post today.
Just chocolate chip cookies.
To celebrate the completion of our history exam, my friend and I made cookies! While chocolate chip cookies are a bit cliche, they are perfect for making with friends because they are so easy. Also, Nathalie has a DSLR and a well-lit kitchen, making for probably the most attractively photographed post in my blog. That is, if I didn’t have to resize it for Tumblr.
Combining wet and dry...
Mother's Day Pie
I’d like to pretend that this pie is an homage to all the times my mother baked some sort of home made pie as an endless source of comfort and the American Dream. However, no one in my immediate family has made a pie in my lifetime, so this was more just something that my sister and I decided to do on Saturday night and masquerade it as a Mother’s Day gift.
I wish I had taken some...

A style question
I know this is quite different from my usual posts, but I was thinking of getting pants similar to these. Are coloured jeans out? Are they too juvenile for someone who is turning 18 soon?

Home Made Oreos
That’s right, you read that correctly, home made Oreos.
I made these for my friend’s birthday party, since I wanted to make something and didn’t really have time to shop for a gift. I also wanted to make something special and quirky, kind of like our relationship. =P
These pictures are from the night after the party, however, since I loved them so much I made them again with my...

Black Bean Burgers
It’s time for a super long post to make up for my complete lack of posting these past couple of months.
Okay, Tumblr, I missed you. I missed your ease of uploading, your youthful community, and the way I don’t have to compete with a million blogs very similar to mine. Wordpress is a little bit too sophisticated for me.
I’ve been having exams and other things for the past month,...

Blueberry muffins
So I haven’t updated in over a month. Yeah, I know, I suck. I tend to forget to take pictures when I’m cooking. Also I have better things to do, like make sure I graduate.
But I digress! I made these muffins earlier this week. They are rather delish.
First I made the crumble topping and put it in the fridge for later.

Guacamole
Over the course of the summer, I’ve kind of gotten into making guacamole. My dad has started asking me to make it for almost every family gathering or party that we have.
Guacamole is actually a lot more time consuming to make than it seems, because it has so few ingredients. However, chopping everything to the right size can be a huge pain, especially when you’re not using a large...

Double Chocolate Waffles
Sometimes when it’s summer and you want breakfast, you go a bit nuts.
Beaten egg whites, very fancy.
Retain the egg yolk for the rest of the waffle batter.
Combine it with dry ingredients
Add chocolate chips, for sugary overkill
Remember those egg whites? Now we add them. Frankly, I’m not sure why I can’t just add them in the beginning, you know, with the rest of...

Fried Rice
My goodness, it’s been a while. I can’t exactly say I’ve been too busy to cook, since it is summer vacation for me. Perhaps I’ve just been too busy to shoot pictures while I cook. Yeah, that’s it.
Anyway, I make fried rice all the time. I love the stuff. Also, since I’m allergic to peas, I can only enjoy fried rice if I make it myself.
Once again, mushrooms...

Mushroom pie
As you can see, I love mushrooms. Probably half my recipes on this blog have mushrooms in them for one reason or another. Anyway, here is a pie/quiche that I made for my mom’s party. It’s so good, even my picky ten-year-old sister ate it!
First you start with a light, buttery crust
Maybe frying the mushrooms and onions separately was unnecessary, but that’s what the...

Lemonade
Nothing says “summer” like a pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade! My sister adores making a lemonade stand every year, and every year we make the lemonade together.
I really hate this picture. It makes my lemons look frightening.
This is photographic proof that we squeezed the lemons ourselves.
Here is the sugar syrup. Dissolving the sugar in boiling water before adding it...
Doing What I love
My aunt saw the pictures of my rainbow cupcakes on facebook, and she commissioned me to make them for my little cousin’s birthday.
Maybe this can be my summer pocket money. Do I really have what it takes to start this kind of business? We’ll see, and there will be tons of great pictures if I do make it.
Anyway, local folks, if you have a birthday party you want me to cater for you,...

Rainbow...Cupcakes?
Yes, another post about rainbow cake! Only this time they’re different!
Notice the layering of the purple and blue batter. If you passed kindergarten, you should know the colours that came next.

Post-oven. HOLY MOLEY THAT’S COOL.
I just used a cake mix and added food colouring. For a more detailed blog post, go here.

Nachoooooos
Awww yeah.
My brother’s idea of making nachos is putting cheese and Tostitos in the microwave.
Now listen to me, if you want a truly mind-blowing nacho experience, you can’t just have cheese, you gotta have STUFF. And that means frying up some onions, throwing some black beans in there, and layering it all with cheese and tortilla chips. Put it in the oven until the cheese melts,...

Sea Salt Ice Cream
My friend made this ice cream before and insisted that it was her favourite flavour. The flavour idea came from the video game, Kingdom Hearts 2. I have never played it, but I think there are some cut scenes where they eat sea salt ice cream or something like that.
Now, ice cream is a lot harder to make than I initially thought. I thought that I just had to pour a lot of cream and sugar into the...

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
Every food blogger has to put at least one of their favourite chocolate chip cookie recipes up on the internet, and I am no exception.
Well, I don’t have any ONE favourite cookie recipe, but it’s definitely one of the better ones I’ve tasted.
Blending the margarine and sugars (An important first step!)
The best part!
Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups unsalted butter or...

Passover food: Mushroom dip
My blog has been on a bit of a hiatus this past week and a bit, since it is Passover and there’s not much I can actually cook. However, my friend and I found a recipe for a dip that one is supposed to put on crackers, and I thought it would liven up my matzah.
Forgive my little sister’s amateur photography skills. She took like fifty pictures of this onion and none of them turned...

Beef Stir-fry
Being a girl who loves cooking with others, I’ve often dragged my boyfriend into the process of whatever new thing I’m making. Now he actually asks me to cook things with him when he sees me! It’s really rewarding when you transfer a hobby you love to another person.
Anyway, enough with the mushy reminiscing. Time to get good and meaty.
Ingredients for a successful marinade.

RAINBOW CAKE
Now, while I do enjoy making cake, I’m not the type of person who likes to go all out. I usually go for quality of taste rather than worrying about what my dishes look like. However, when my friend, Cadi, (who I had the birthday party for last week) asked me to help her make the cake for her little brother’s 3rd birthday, how could I say no?
She had already made the cakes the day...

Party food: Chocolate cupcakes
Sorry it took so long to post this! The cupcakes were made for a surprise party, so I didn’t want to upload the recipe and ruin the surprise. Anyway, this is a recipe I got from the blog Obsessed with Baking.
Finally, contrasting colours!

Tuna noodles
Here is a recipe clipped from our local newspaper. I have had it sitting around for a while, and every time I look at it I salivate. I decided, today’s the day! Carpe diem!
I made a couple mistakes with the recipe, the main one being that I forgot to boil the sauce, which may be why there is just SO much liquid, which might have been boiled off in the original process.

Review: Bon's Off Broadway
I figure that I don’t only have to stick to food that I have made in my blog.
My friend and I have been meaning to go out for breakfast ever since we saw our History teacher eating pancakes and strawberry sauce. We decided to try out a greasy-spoon establishment, Bon’s Off Broadway.
I ripped this picture off the internet.
While waiting for our food, my friend and I browsed the...

Spaghetti with Meatless Balls
I may not be a vegetarian, but there seems to be a current theme to my blog of texturized vegetable protein.
This is an extremely prepackaged meal, I basically boiled some spaghetti, baked some frozen meatless balls from Superstore, and covered it all with my famous PC pasta sauce, which made an appearance in my lasagna as well.
Boiling the spaghetti. There is the lovely toaster on the right.

Vegetarian Lasagna
Hey there! This is my very first post for my first ever recipe blog. How exciting!
My first ever recipe is going to be for vegetarian lasagna, for all those people who want to be environmentally friendly or just cow-friendly.
This recipe includes lots of carrots and onions. And PC tomato sauce.
